Come and Try Days
With the introduction of the AusCycling "4 week trial" membership Jingili BMX Club no longer holds come and try days.
We find that this new membership type offers families more flexibility to come and try the sport during any of our Sunday morning track sessions, rather than on one allocated day during the year.
There is no need to book, keep an eye on our Facebook page for our Sunday gates practice. Don't forget to sign up for the 4 week trial membership before heading to the track.
Information About the "4 Week Trial Membership"
- The AusCycling "4 Week Trial Membership" is available to anyone who hasn't held an AusCycling Membership within the past three (3) years
- This membership covers you for third party public liability and limited personal accident coverage only
- The four-week period commences from the date of completing the online form. For this reason, we recommend that you reach out to us beforehand or check our calendar to make sure we will be open for four weeks to help you get the best value from the trial membership.
- We encourage you to race while one trial a membership. This is the best way to experience the whole sport and not just training (open gates/gate practice)
When First Starting Out
During our race season, beginner riders ride on Sunday mornings in either the 9:30-10:30 session for non-gate starting riders, or 10:30-11:30 session for beginners who are confident starting from the gate.
While on the BMX track, all riders must wear;
-
Long pants, not leggings
-
Long sleeved t-shirt or fishing shirt
-
Covered shoes and socks, not sandals or crocs
-
Full-fingered gloves *
-
Full-face helmets, such as those designed for motocross and downhill mountain biking
We ask that you dress your child appropriately and bring your own full-fingered gloves with you. Stores like Bunnings sell kids gardening gloves for under $5.
We also have gloves for sale for $30.
The following clothing is acceptable for riders on a 4-week trial membership, after this, we ask that wear riding suitable for motocross or mountain bike/BMX racing, and purchase their own full face helmet.
Are there any other fees involved?
Yes, while the trial membership is free, you will need to pay the $5 session fee. This is paid at the canteen when signing in for the session.
Do you have loan equipment?
Limited loan helmets and race bikes are available for hire during Sunday open gates only, please talk to a volunteer before accessing these. We ask, where possible that members purchase their own equipment prior to their four week trail ending; please ask one of our volunteers for local store details. We don't recommend the purchase of second hand helmets.
