What Do I Need to Race at Jingili BMX Club?
Number Plates
Club race plates are available for $20 via pre order at the canteen. If you would like to organise a race number, please chat to the race registrar.
Transponders
Riders who race in challenge class (born in 2012 or older) us a "MYLAPS Prochip Flex" transponder for accurate timing of their laps. These can be purchased from the club for $55 including the first years subscription. When purchasing a transponder please ask the race registrar for information on how to activate your transponder. If you are sprocket rocket or mini wheeler, you do not need to have a transponder as these are participation classes.
Club Race Meets
Jingili BMX Club hosts club race meets on alternate Fridays between 5pm and 8:30pm. Cost is $3 Mini Wheeler (balance bikes), $8 Sprocket Rocket and $10 Challenge class riders. Club race meets are about fun and learning to race in a controlled environment.
We cater for all levels of riders at Jingili BMX Club. Racing is offered for;
-
Mini Wheelers ride for 30 minutes before main races start, for Mini Wheelers racing looks much like open gates on Sunday morning
-
Sprockets (parents assisting): Yes we offer a race class for Sprocket Rockets who can't yet start from the gate, or who's parents assist them around the track. When nominating for the race, let the race registrar know and they will be placed in a "non gate" group and start from the step up
-
Sprockets (starting from the gate): This is a participation race class for riders aged from 2 to 7 years. Riders are sorted by age "5 & Under", "6" and "7". At times riders may be merged ie "6 and 7 Sprockets"
-
Challenge Class (Novice/not timed): If you are over 7 years old and want to race without a transponder please have a chat to our race registrar as we need a minimum of 3 riders for this race class
-
Challenge Class (timed): Riders are timed and group into Junior, Senior and Masters based on their age. Further divisions are then made based on a riders average race time from their most recent races at Jingili
How a club race meet works
-
Turn up on the night with correct gear (bike, helmet and gloves)
-
Make your way to the registration hut next to the canteen. The race registrar will ask for your child's name and payment to enter into the race. Riders with a transponder will then need to make their way to the "transponder self check station" which is located at the entrance to the start hill
-
Go have a practice ride, this is usually 1 hour before racing starts
-
Once practice has finished Mini Wheelers will ride/race for 30 minutes. This will allow our race registrar time to finalise race nominations and classes
-
Wait for your race to be called, all Sprockets and Challenge class riders will make their way to the staging area
-
Riders in Challenge classes will complete a "time trial lap" by themselves to be better grouped with similar riders
-
Races usually consist of four motos, there will be a small break after the 3rd race and then a 4th race or final
-
There is food and drinks available in the canteen on race nights
